The Office: Baby Shower

Breif Recap:
This week’s office was not my favorite. The first few minutes were ridiculous as Michael helped Dwight give birth to a Watermelon in anticipation of Jan’s Labor. It was just a little too far fetched and forced for me to enjoy, but maybe some people out there enjoy that humor…who knows. Phyllis and the party planning committee are hard at work on Jan’s baby shower, which isn’t coming together as well as Michael would have hoped—he feels that Jan deserves a “Golden Shower,” (a line which I’m sure Rebecca Morrell appreciated).

Michael told Holly he would probably act cold towards her while Jan was around, and Stanley informed us of his dislike for pregnant women. Jan showed up to the shower with a baby (little Astird), and ruined Kevin’s shower games. Throughout the day, Michael insulted Holly, and Jan sang a beautiful rendition of Son of a Preacher Man at her shower. Michael held Astrid while Jan was napping and said he didn’t feel anything, so he passed the baby off to Phyllis, then Angela somehow got a hold of her. When Jan woke up, Astrid was being photographed in some vegetables and it was hilarious, maybe the best part of the episode.

Pam and Jim were “out of sync” this week, but there was a touching scene at the end that showed how in sync they actually were. Another great Office moment occurred at the end when Michael defied Jan’s request/order, and asked Holly out. GO MICHAEL.

The Office: Business Ethics

So I’ve been trying to figure out this post for like a week now because I’m not really sure how I want to do posts for The Office from here on out, but since I don’t want to figure it out right now, here is my fave moment from last week’s episode “Business Ethics.”

Jim: Hey Andy.
Andy: Yo!
Jim: By any chance did you see Battlestar Galactica last night?
Andy: No, I did not. Is that any good?
Jim: Actually not. It's really so-so.
Dwight: [turning] Ok...
Jim: [showing Dwight the stopwatch]
Dwight: [faces his desk and says nothing]
Jim: Man like the whole "crazy monsters" and stuff like Klingons and Wookies and all that but...
Dwight: [turns again]
Jim: [turns and shows Dwight the stopwatch again] Sorry, was there something you wanted to add Dwight?
Dwight: [says nothing and continues to work]
Andy: Is that anything like the original Battlestar Galactica?
Jim: You know what's weird? It's practically a shot-for-shot remake.
Andy: Really? Huh, that's cool.
Dwight: [crumples papers trying to resist the urge to speak out]
Jim: [watching Dwight with stopwatch ready]
Jim: The story's kinda bland. It's about this guy named Dumbledore Calrissian who needs to return the ring back to Mordor.
Dwight: Ok...
Andy: Really, that doesn't sound right...

The Office: Weight Loss

This week’s Office return was exceptional. I feel like the show is off to a good start…returning back to basics. Not so much of the crazy weird Michael Scott antics that we saw last year, case in point, driving into a lake. Not funny. The show had a few hits and misses after the writer's strike last year, but definitely ended on a high note, and I’m glad to feel so positive about the premiere!

This week we saw classic Stanley, Dwangela, Michael and Ryan’s Bromance, Kelly collapse, and JIM AND PAM GET ENGAGED!! Seriously, what more could we ask for? A picture of the Staypuft Marshmellow man? DONE AND DONE! I was taking notes for this post last night, and ended up with about 4 ½ pages of quotes, so I did some major editing and I’m sharing what I thought was funny with you, my loyal readers.

After the jump, some of my favorite moments and quotes.

Michael’s missed opportunity: “Hold it in your mouth if you can’t swallow”

Kevin: “Pam, you weigh 226 pounds?!?”
Holly: “Almost Kevin!”
Pam: “Not Almost though, Holly”
Holly: “Math is Hard”

(I’m so glad they kept the Special Kevin joke running.)

Pam: “What up 212”

Kelly’s
cleanse diet: All she has to do is drink Maple Syrup, lemon Juice, Cayenne Pepper and water for all three meals. Mindy Kaling NAILED that scene, she’s awesome.

Angela: “I have a nice comforter and several cozy pillows. I usually read a chapter of a book and it’s lights out at 8:30, THAT’s how I sleep at night.”

All Andy needs to find is a 1,000 year old church in the continental United States, there has to be a rainbow, a 24 hour veterinarian on call…

Dwight: "I apologize for creating a ruse that forced you to exercise."

Andy Bernard doesn’t lose contests, he wins them. Or he quits them, because they are unfair.

YAYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!! PAM AND JIM ARE ENGAGED!!!!!!!!

Poor Poor Toby. What a sad ending :(
