If there really is a bear...

I miss good old fashioned political campaign ads. Instead of slinging mud or talking about boring policy, candidates would confuse the crap out of voters with extended metaphors that made no sense until, eventually, the voting population would just give up. Take for example the following Reagan ad from '84 where he talks about how dangers bears are, because... bears attack people for honey or something? Maybe they're not really dangerous, the ad posits.Maybe they don't exist at all?!? After all some people can't see the bear. Invisible metaphor bears people! (Stephen Colbert would love this ad.)
