Future Bedroom Wall Art

The new watchmen poster makes me so happy and it will be up on my wall as soon as I can find one. In the meantime it's my new desktop photo.

Made Up Celebrity Gossip!

Chris Noth announced in a press release this morning that he's officially giving up his long held post at the 8th Street Starbucks by NYU saying he feels he's gotten "too old to be picking up undergrads by asking them 'You know why they call me Mr. Big right?'" So to all the ladies hoping to bag a Sex and the City alumnus, you've now got a choice between Evan Handler and Willie Garson

Madonna has finally responded to Guy Richie's comment that she was like "cuddling up to a piece of gristle," stating that she "resents the implication that [she] has ever cuddled with anyone." she then added "Marrying Richie is my life's biggest regret," clarifying that it was indeed above "Swept Away, topping Dennis Rodman, and the American Life album."

Alyson Hannigan and Alexis Denisof having made the jump from Buffy co-stars to husband and wife, will be trying on a new role... Mom and Dad. The How I Met Your Mother star announced she's expecting, saying that she looks forward to the day her husband will sit down with their children and tell them about all the other women he banged before surprising them by revealing her identity.

Shatner Snubbed in Sulu Nuptials

Bill "Captain Kirk" Shatner gave an awkwardly tongue-in-cheek/vaguely homophobic interview about how he wasn't invited to George Takei's wedding, the epitome of all nerdy gay weddings (Chekov and Uhura were the best man and matron of honor). Takei has countered, saying that Shatner was invited. Who to believe? Does it matter? William Shatner is welcome at my gay wedding, as long as he brings his equally famous hairpiece and Patrick Stewart along with him.

Shatner responded to the accusations that he didn't come after being invited, saying they were preposterous as he would fly to the wedding and find cheap accommodations using priceline.com, where he could name his own price.

Flavor Saver of the Week

I don't know who this player is, but he has an impressive (?) flavor saver. Such a classy phrase for facial hair. Also, all males that read this blog--don't grow one of these, ugh.

Super Mario Bros 2

While you were using your Erlenmeyer Flask of red potion to pop into Sub-space and collect coins and increase your life meter by uprooting random vegetables... this kid was practicing his acoustic Super Mario Bros 2 jam. Mmm, nostalgic goodness.

Also, Toad was for real the best character, no matter what some of you Princess Peach enthusiasts might think. Seriously that speed can't be beat. So, suck on that.

Ending of Watchmen Changed?

Any geek worth his/her salt has read Alan Moore's Watchmen, bitched about Heroes ripping it off rather poorly, and gotten really excited about the film adaptation finally coming out next spring. It's from, Dawn of the Dead (2004) director, Zack Snyder. Yes, please! But recently rumors have been rumbling suggesting that the crucial ending to the graphic novel has been made a little more palpable for film audiences. I'm fine with turning a giant squid into anything else... but this shiz ends on a down note and that's how it better stay. I don't want to to lose the massive geek-rection I get every time I watch the Watchmen trailer.

It's not wrong that hearing "The Beginning is the End is the Beginning" makes my nipples hard now, right? More importantly... how amazing is it that a song from the Batman & Robin soundtrack could make the jump to the Watchmen trailer? That's hope for us all right there.

Cookin' by the Book

So this video from Lazy Town, a Nick Jr. kids show, has come to be a solid fixture in my life. Steve developed an obsession with it earlier this year and when I heard it, I couldn't stop listening to it. Seriously I have the mp3 on my iPod. Steve even went so far as to program one of his auto-phrases for Super Smash Bros Brawl to say "U know u can't be lazy!" (That is the nerdiest thing I've ever typed.) Sure the weird muppet things things are creepy but that little pink haired girl is fab-u-lous, and I try to say that word as little as possible.

So I'm sure you can imagine my surprise when I discovered THIS seriously NSFW remix on YouTube. (The remix is my ringtone for Steve on my cell phone. Oh yeah.)

NSFW deliciousness after the jump!

The Nick Jr logo in the corner throughout the remix video makes me indescribably happy. w00t!

In My Room

(Ed. Note: it is fracking freezing in my house due to no heat and poor insulation. Since this post is about said house, I thought you should know.) P.S. Sorry for being somewhat absent these last few days...bloggers block?

MY ROOM:
Ok, so I’m a 24 year-old student getting my masters in Library Science. I think I’m at least somewhat mature, and I try to keep up with the times (or whatever it is those crazy kids are saying) so why is it that my room looks like a 12 year old gay, super nerdy, boy’s room?

I say gay/effeminate boy because I have a pretty girly bedspread, its from anthropologie and has flowers and other pretty patterns on it. I also have satin pillows and pictures of all of my friends all over my walls—very girly. The boy part kind of goes along with the super nerdy part and comes from all of the toys and other weird things I have lining my walls and taking up a great deal of surface/storage space.

The rest of my room, and pictures after the Jump!

I’m a big movie buff and I love movie posters, so that’s how I choose to decorate my wall. I hope whoever I spend my life with understands this about me, because I don’t know that I’m willing to change. I have some posters that make sense, like Ghostbusters, Harry Potter, Dr. Strangelove, A Clockwork Orange and Teen Wolf—but I also have some strange ones that even I question, including Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I mean, that movie is OK, but I wasn’t crazy about it—I think I just liked the poster when I bought it.

I also have some odd Star Wars Memorobilia, including a Darth Vader mask that’s hanging on my wall. I got said mask with Rebecca “Golden Shower” Morrell before we went to see Revenge of the Sith—wow, I can’t believe I admitted that in a public forum. I also have a Wicket beanie baby that sits next to Cocky on top of my television (my light saber from attack of the clones is in Greenville).

My shelves hold many important items, including my ever expanding comic book collection, which sadly I’ve neglected lately, and my Buffy toys. I have a vamped out Angel complete with Baby Conner, and Anya in a bunny suit. David gave me Angel for my 23 birthday. Yes, I got an Angel action figure for my 23rd birthday, and yes, I loved it.

One of my most prized possessions on my shelves is a Harry Potter “Lumos” wand that I bought with David on my last night in NYC. It’s filled with sentimental value, as well as it’s overall awesomeness. I also have various other trinkets, including a super cool Dwight Schrute bobble head, but nothing quite as nerdy as the above items. So yeah, I probably should grow up one of these days, but I really like my nerdy things.

Kirk vs. God

I'm going to take a wild stab in the dark and say that most of you haven't seen Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (aka the movie where Kirk and company hunt down God, find him, and then Kirk kicks his ass.) Here's a clip from the infamous scene where Kirk lays the smackdown on the Creator of the Universe.

When God instructs Kirk to give him the Enterprise so that he can spread the good word to the galaxy... Kirk has just one thing to say about that:

Oh snap! God, your face called.. soccer practice is over and you need TAH PICK IT UP!

Hey Celebrities, STFU!

It's our policy here at Pop Cultured to try to ignore the Presidential Election as much as possible, which is difficult because every day my facebook newsfeed, thanks to the work of my many friends, assaults me with petty accusations and talking points. What happened to adapting Wham lyrics as clever facebook statuses guys? As frustrating as that can be and it's REALLY annoying, there's an even more insidious trend going 'round the interweb right now... celebrities posting "funny" videos telling me who to vote for. These videos are popping up every day now and not only are they not funny at all, they're smug, annoying, and I'd argue they're working against their intended effect.

The Cast of Gossip Girl wants you to talk to your parents about John McCain
"Voting Republican even once can have disastrous effects that last for years." Because Republicans bad, Democrats good. *sigh* Thanks for the ill informed partisan nonsense. Regardless of who you think should be president isn't talking to potential voters as if their entire belief system is evil a pretty crappy rhetorical strategy? Also it's the cast of fucking Gossip Girl!

More videos and commentary after the jump!

Hayden Panettiere
This is the commercial which finally pushed me to post about this phenomena because Hayden's delivery of this mishmash of reverse psychology and random outrageous claims is so obnoxious. Hey, Hayden, why would I want political advice from a 19 year old who left school in the 7th grade? Also, Heroes Season Three is seriously awful.

Leo, Halle Berry, Natalie Portman, and Courtney Cox don't want you to vote.
I'm gonna take a stand right now and say I am definitely voting after listening to these douchenozzles. Oh that's what they wanted? But if I don't vote I'm doing what they told me to do. Fuck it I'm just going to vote for whichever candidate would make Halle Berry cry.

Hope, It Could Happen to You
This isn't so much a celebrity endorsement as it is Amber Benson and Rider Strong just acting in an Obama commercial. So this is what they're up to...

Referees Suck

It's difficult for me to even comprehend the forces which had to align to cause me to blog about football on here, but this video of a referee dropping his shoulder and laying into a University of South Carolina Gamecock is one of the most viewed videos on YouTube at the moment and one of the most unjustifiable instances of ref interference ever. Enjoy the outrage!
