And The Nominees Are...

It's time to vote for the best picture of the year! Thirty three people participated in our nominating process, designed to mimic the Academy's crazy system, and the results are finally in. I think the nominees largely mimic the intentions of the voters, though that is largely the result of a few last minute ballots which balanced out the nominees.

Before I get to the results, here are the Top 10 films, using a point system similar to the AP poll.

10. Man on Wire
9. JCVD
8. Frost/Nixon
7. In Bruges
6. The Wrestler
5. Slumdog Millionaire
4. Iron Man
3. Milk
2. Wall-E
1. The Dark Knight

The Pop Cultured Best Picture of 2008 nominees after the jump!

The Wrestler

Milk

The Dark Knight

Slumdog Millionaire

Wall-E

Four people who nominated films have none of their nominees nominated. While Frost/Nixon won a round of the nomination process it couldn't be included on the nominees list because it was not the first place selection for any of the voters. Also, until the final 2 votes came in JCVD occupied the slot currently held by Slumdog Millionaire.

Send votes to popculturedblog@gmail.com. You can only vote for one film and all votes are due by the end of the day on Tuesday, February 10. Those who did not participate in the nominating process are allowed to vote, so encourage your friends.

Once again, I think I'm the only person who has seen "Confessionsofa Ex-DoofusItchyFooted Mutha." Sigh... I need to just invent my own award to give to it.
